Let’s read about Diversity!
On the 23rd of November, 5/6 W, 1/2MC and 1/2C gathered together in the library to share books that show Diversity. The 5’s and 6’s each got assigned to a couple of the 1/ 2’s each and shared our thoughts on diversity in our library books. The 1’s and 2’s listened to what the 5/ 6’s had to say and they answered questions they asked. The next activity was to find a book on the shelves that showed diversity. The 1/ 2’s task was to show the older students where the diversity was and to prove it using the text or illustrations. The 1/ 2’s did very well answering the questions and proved their thoughts about diversity in picture books quite well. They showed deep thinking and were well behaved. The 5/6s enjoyed sharing their learning and spending their afternoon with the 1/2s.

Preps in Tech
Recently, in Tech the Preps have been learning about how to use their emails. So many of them were greeted with a huge surprise when they read an email from a special ‘someone’. The way their faces ‘lit up’ with the realisation that someone had sent them a special message was magical. It is a really nice way of showing them how special they are.
Thanks to all the Prep parents for taking the time to organise a special email for your children. Keep an ‘eye out’ over the coming days as the Preps finish their letters and send them to their special person via email. I know they are very excited to share about their first year of school.
The Preps have done lots of amazing work in Tech this year. Well done and enjoy your last few weeks of being a Prep student before you become big Year 1 students!

Religious Education- A Time of Celebrations
September and October have been a special time for some of our younger St. Jude’s parish members.
CONFIRMATION:
On September, 9 2016, a number of our year 5 and 6 students celebrated their Sacrament of Confirmation. The effort that the students put into their preparation for their sacrament was very evident and Fr. John and Monsignor Greg Bennet, who confirmed our students were most impressed by them. Great job Confirmation Candidates and congratulations on taking on the next step in your faith journey.
EUCHARIST:
On two of our weekends throughout mid October a number of our Year 3 students celebrated the Sacrament of First Eucharist. The First Communicants did a wonderful job and looked great. So many read and participated in their masses beautifully. Congratulations First Communicants.
BAPTISM:
Sunday, 23rd October was not only a morning of First Communions, but early in that afternoon St. Jude’s Parish welcomed some new members into our parish community. Among our newest parish members was Pippa. Congratulations to Pippa on choosing to become an active member of our St. Jude’s Parish.
HT Girls Softball Team Runners Up at Eastern Metro Region Finals
Congratulations girls. Go HT.
The girls softball team went really well this year. We are District and Division champs and since Thursday runners up in the Eastern Metropolitan Region. We started the day with a draw against Milgate PS with the score being 10 – 10. The second game we played was against Hartwell PS which we ended up winning in a very close match. The final Pool game was also a win against St. Judes 14 – 4. After a little break the girls prepared for the grand final. We faced a very good team, which included the SSV Victorian State Pitcher, and lost 4 to 9. We all played really well, learnt lots about Softball and improved with each game.
