SRC – New School Uniform

SRC – New School Uniform

This term our SRC (Student Representative Council) have been regularly meeting to work through what our new school uniform might look like in 2022 and beyond.

Over the past couple of weeks we shared some of our wonderful ideas including labelling our designs.

Some of ideas included introducing a tie, having a hoodie and creating a uniform that can be worn by both girls and boys and having just one uniform that is a bit more ‘sporty’ and can be worn on both PE and non PE days.

We would love you to add your thoughts about the below designs into the comment section of this post.

Here are some of the designs that our SRCs came up with …..

Year 1/2 Learning in action …..

Year 1/2 Learning in action …..

In the 1/2 level at the moment the students have been working really hard on their reading skills. The focus is on reading with fluency where the students read in class for 20 minutes each day as well as choosing ‘good fit books’ that use the five finger rule. The five finger rule involves the students choosing books that are not too easy or too hard.

In addition, the 1/2 students have been developing their understanding of spelling sounds, 2D shapes in Maths as well as learning about the Easter season.

Here are the 1/2 students hard at work …..

Market Fresh Fun

Market Fresh Fun

The Year 1/2s enjoyed an educational presentation and smorgasbord of seasonal fruit and vegetables provided by the Market Fresh Schools Program.

The presenters spoke about the importance of eating fresh fruit and vegetables as part of a balanced daily diet – and gave the kids the opportunity to taste and enjoy a variety of fresh produce.

We thank the farmers for working so hard to provide us with delicious and nutritious food to eat daily!

Friday’s School Assembly (6 March)

Friday’s School Assembly (6 March)

Hi everyone,

Here is Friday’s school assembly.  During our assembly we hear from some of our year 2 students who gave us a good reminder of making sure we show respect for our school by putting rubbish in the red wheelie bins.  We also heard from our sports leaders who will be starting some sports clubs during lunchtimes over the next few weeks as well as recapping our fabulous athletics day (unfortunately this part was not recorded). Congratulations to all our wonderful ‘Student of the Week’ and TORCH award winners who displayed so many great values that we try to use at school.

We are hoping to do a live streaming of our next Friday assembly in 2 weeks time so please keep an eye out for the link to this assembly via our school newsletter, Operoo and our school blog.

A big thank you to Rebecca and Mya for your wonderful photography and video work during Friendship Groups and at our assembly.

Minecraft Club

Minecraft Club

Ever since our Year 6 Digitech leaders began their leadership roles they have really wanted to organise a Minecraft Club for the students in our school. Unfortunately, due to COVID we have been unable to conduct our Minecraft Club until this week.

Some students in Years 2, 3 and 4 have been given the opportunity to participate in our Minecraft Club where they are learning to use a variety of the tools and skills used in this program. This club takes place during lunchtimes on Wednesdays and Fridays. Our Minecraft Club will continue until the end of the year.

Next year we are hoping to continue our Minecraft Club with our new Digitech leaders as well as to begin a Minecraft Club with a new set of students.

A big thank you to our Year 6 Digitech leaders for all of their efforts in helping to get this club up and running for our students.

Here are a few of our students in action during a recent Minecraft Club session.

It is important to remember that no matter what specialist lesson you have it will always be the same code, You will also stay on your Google Meet throughout the session and your specialist teachers will swap over half way through the session. Most class teachers will explain how to access their specialist Google Meet but here is a quick summary …..

Amazing Paper Construction Art

Amazing Paper Construction Art

This week the Grade One students worked really hard to create some 3D imaginary lands from paprr. They used the paper skills they had learnt to create playgrounds, gardens, parks, aquariums and even a race track.
They were very proud of themselves.

Amazing artists

Amazing artists

Such happy days in the art room. These little artists were challenged while learning paper construction skills.  They persisted and helped each other. Such a lot of  learning happens when we create. They were so proud of their work and I was so proud of them all.  Can’t wait to see what they make next. Yay to being back at school with all our lovely art materials.
