ITALIAN DAY/TRINITY FEAST DAY CELEBRATIONS – THURSDAY 9TH JUNE

The students are very excited about our upcoming Italian Day/Trinity Feast Day celebrations. We will be celebrating this day on Thursday 9th June. The theme for Italian day this year is Ancient Rome. In class the students have been learning about life in Ancient Roman times. It would be lovely to see all the students dressed up on the day. Some costume ideas would be: Roman God or Goddess, Roman Emperor, Roman soldier, Roman man, woman or child or a Roman gladiator. A simple toga can be made out of a bed sheet or a costume could be put together simply with an oversized t-shirt, belt, rope or scarf.

Here are some examples:

Here is a youtube link showing you how to make a toga using a bedsheet:

It is only optional to dress up as a Roman, students can also dress up in the Italian colours – green, white and red if they prefer.

There will be many fun activities organised for the day! We will be having a parade in the morning starting at 9.10am – parents are more than welcome to stay and watch the parade. The parade will be out on the basketball courts. The students will be entertained by the amazing Tim Mason from the Melbourne Magic Academy and will also participate in activities in their classrooms which will be centred around the Ancient Rome theme. After lunch we will celebrate Trinity Feast day mass in the community hall – parents are more than welcome to attend mass. This special mass will commence at 2.10pm.

Looking forward to a great day!

Viva l’italiano!
