On Friday afternoon the students from 5/6W lead the school community in a reflection as they gathered to commemorate ANZAC day. Every student in the school contributed by making a poppy which were displayed in the community hall. We gathered, not to glorify war or praise victors, but to remember those who have served our country during times of conflict and crisis, and to reflect upon their selfless sacrifice. We also acknowledged the losses and sacrifices of their families.

ANZAC day is set aside for us to collectively give thanks to all those men and women who have put their lives at risk and in many cases paid the supreme price.

God of love and liberty, we bring our thanks this day for the peace and security we enjoy, which was won for us through the courage and devotion of those who gave their lives in time of war.

We pray that their labour and sacrifice may not be in vain, but that their spirit may live on in us and in generations to come. That the liberty, truth and justice which they sought to preserve may be seen and known in all the nations upon earth.

This we pray in the name of the one who gave his life for the sake of the world, Jesus Christ our Lord.

Amen

We thank Mrs. Liz Storey for making the wreath used in today’s reflection.
