Amazing artists

Amazing artists

Such happy days in the art room. These little artists were challenged while learning paper construction skills.  They persisted and helped each other. Such a lot of  learning happens when we create. They were so proud of their work and I was so proud of them all.  Can’t wait to see what they make next. Yay to being back at school with all our lovely art materials.

Home Learning is ‘up and running’

Home Learning is ‘up and running’

Hi everyone,

Welcome to term 2 – a completely new way of learning from outside the four walls of the school classroom. Today is a ‘settling in’ day like most of us would normally do for a new term. Our parents (who are also our first teachers) may need some guidance during the day as many of them have not been to primary school since the dinosaurs roamed the Earth (well maybe not that long).

Today, here is a simple activity for all parents to try to do sometime during today’s day of learning. I would like parents to take a picture of their child/ren completing some of their learning. It may be of them working at a desk, practising some meditation skills, watching a video that their teacher has shared with them or having a brain break doing one of Mrs. Harrison’s fantastic PE exercises.

I then would like parents to send this photo to their class teacher as a quick way of touching base with them. Class teachers may not necessarily reply to these emails as they will be teaching throughout the day but it is a nice way to show them that your child is engaged in our home learning program. I would love to put some of these photos onto the school blog as well so if you give permission for me to post a photo of your child/ren please CC me in on the email to the class teacher. My email address is smullavey@htws.catholic.edu.au

Please also note that the Prep to Year 2 online program will begin after the students have made their way through the pack that was provided at the end of last term.

Below is a list of all teaching staff’s email addresses for your reference.

Cheers and have a great day with your beautiful families.

Almost show time ……

Almost show time ……

The excitement in the art room is building as the show looms nearer.

Two wonderful collaborative works are the beautiful interactive wings and the thumbprint turtle stool. Here’s a sneak peak at some of the work done so far towards these pieces.

Each student decorated a feather and these have been joined together to create two wings. Students will be able to stand between the wings and take a photo.

Today the art leaders coordinated each student in the school adding their thumbprint onto a piece of material we will use to create a cushion for the amazing Turtle stool Mr. Downey and Zander Downey built. Can’t wait to put it all together.

See you on Tuesday night  at the Art Show 😁

The Grade 3/4 Special Artists have been super busy in the art room creating some amazing animal skin paper . We are planning to use these in an awesome sign for the art show. There’ll be snakeskin, tiger, zebra, leopard and even eagle and peacock feathered paper.  It’s a challenging task and I’m so proud of them.

A sneak peek at the awesome artwork our Art Extension students have been creating. They had to work in pairs to create a four letter word to inspire us at HT. They had to coordinate warm and cool colours and use some interesting paint techniques. They worked really well together inspiring and encouraging each other. 🌟

What an amazing turnout! Thank you very much to all of the children who came to make an owl both on Wednesday and today at lunch time. Each of you are contributing to such an amazing cause and your generosity is much appreciated! A HUGE shout out to the parent helpers who have supported this event with your donations and time!! We couldn’t have done it without your help! Students, the kindness and patience that you showed to one another is commendable! To the staff that came to support, thanks a bunch!!

The amazing artists at Holy Trinity have been working hard in the art room.

Grade Prep artists investigated mixing  Primary colours to make Secondary colours while creating beautiful flowers.

Grade Four artists made these beautiful textured posters featuring their names.

Grade Five artists created these fun heart posters after being inspired by the artwork of American Street Artist Chris Uphues

Grade Six artistss made a collaborative artwork to display in the mini space, Reach for the Stars, it looks incredible. Thank you to Katelyn, Yul, Levi and Amy for the wonderful stars in the display.

Special Art Groups and Art Clubs

Special Art Groups and Art Clubs

At Holy Trinity we are very lucky to have the opportunity to participate in “Special Art Groups.” In special art groups a few students are chosen by Mrs Laming and the art leaders to complete a special art piece to represent our school. One special project we completed last year was when we painted skateboards with the TORCH values on them. These skateboards are displayed in the walkway into our Great Space. As you can see below the skateboards are very impressive.

Later on this year we will also have some special art clubs where students have the opportunity to sign up to participate in this group during lunchtimes. The art club is often led by our Year 6 Art leaders and they teach a range of skills including painting, knitting and weaving.

Here are some of our special art pieces.

An exciting weekend of Art Shows

An exciting weekend of Art Shows

Last weekend I attended the Catholic Education Visual Arts Exhibition 2018 on Saturday  and the Knox Council Community Art Show on Sunday. Work from four of our students was displayed at each Art Show. It was wonderful to see the work from other students from schools throughout the  State and the local community.

I am very pleased to share the news that Tina Siu (Grade 6 2017) won first place for her pastel drawing in the Grade Five and Six section at the Knox Art Show. Congratulations Tina 👍

This week our wonderful Grade One and Two students worked collaboratively to create amazing paper sculptures. I was so proud of the way they encouraged one another and shared their ideas. They really enjoyed making these and they look fantastic. The sculptures are displayed on the bag racks in the Great space if you would like to view these artworks.
